The Black Bay collection is first and foremost a modern incarnation of Tudor 's iconic 1954 Submariner . The first product in the " diver's " series, it is ergonomic , easy to read, precise , and robust . It perfectly embodies the approach of American architect Louis Sullivan , who believed that the form of an object should follow its function. It also lays the aesthetic and technical foundations of the ideal dive watch : a discreet , functional , and reliable tool .
