Baume & Mercier watches have been available for years in Alsace, located in the Grand Est region of France, through its sole official distributor in the Haut-Rhin department, the Bijouterie du Bollwerk in Mulhouse , the only Baume & Mercier boutique as far north as Strasbourg. The second Baume & Mercier point of sale in France, the Bijouterie du Bollwerk in Belfort, is also a distributor for the brand in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and the only Baume & Mercier boutique as far north as Besançon.
The story of Baume & Mercier begins in 1830. Brothers Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume opened a watchmaking workshop in Les Bois in the Swiss Jura. The Baume brothers' company grew rapidly, remaining true to the motto "Leave nothing to chance, only manufacture watches of the highest quality," and forged a solid reputation by creating exceptional timepieces and integrating the latest innovations into Baume & Mercier watches.
