Founded in 1860 in Florence and comprising a workshop, a boutique and a watchmaking school, Panerai was for decades the supplier of precision instruments to the Italian Navy, initially equipping its frogman commandos.
The projects that emerged during this period, including the Luminor and Radiomir watches, remained covered by military secrecy for years, until the brand was acquired by the Richemont Group in 1997 and subsequently launched on the international market.
Today, Panerai develops and produces its own movements and watches – a fusion of Italian design and Swiss watchmaking expertise – at its manufacture in Neuchâtel. Panerai watches are sold worldwide through an exclusive network of authorized retailers, as well as in its mono-brand boutiques around the globe.

The Florentine brand, created by Giovanni Panerai under the name Officine Panerai, was repatriated in 2002 to its manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Today, Panerai watches have been available for many years in Alsace, located in the Grand Est region of France, through its sole official retailer in the Haut-Rhin department (68), at Bollwerk in Mulhouse.
Furthermore, the Bollwerk jewelry store was one of the first Panerai boutiques in France. Bollwerk has a team of true enthusiasts on staff, a tradition that dates back to the opening of the first Panerai retail location in Alsace in 2004.
