The Equation of Time features a sophisticated complication, the equation of time, displayed via a linear indicator on the dial. The equation of time represents the difference between mean solar time and true solar time as indicated by the meridian. This difference results from the combination of the Earth's axial tilt and its elliptical orbit. The linear equation of time indicator displays this difference and adjusts automatically according to the date and month.
